The Clinical Nurse Consultant role at Capricornia Correctional Centre works on providing expert clinical leadership in primary care for male offenders. In partnership with a multidisciplinary team, the CNC will champion safe, high-quality healthcare services within the correctional environment.
Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) delivers healthcare to approximately 1200 male prisoners across Capricornia Correctional Centre, Capricornia Correctional Farm, and associated work camps. COHS provides a flexible service to meet the varied healthcare needs of a diverse prisoner population, from urgent to preventative care.

About us:
COHS provides comprehensive healthcare for approx. 1200 male prisoners (CCC, CCF, work camps). Offers flexible primary care, mirroring community standards (including emergency). Services range from urgent to chronic and preventative. Utilises multidisciplinary teams and integrated referral systems, with health equity as a priority. Includes health promotion, prevention, care, disease management, advocacy, and rehabilitation.
About the role:
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC), Primary Care role is to provide advanced clinical leadership and clinical expertise relevant to the speciality of primary health care to male Offenders at the Capricornia Correctional Centre. The CNC works in partnership with the CNC Health and Wellbeing, Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), Nurse Educator (NE) and wider CQ Health program teams to support the health services in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice for the specialty of correctional nursing.
About you:
- Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- A relevant postgraduate diploma or Master's degree is an expectation of this position. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $164,212 is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
