About the Role:
Join our team as a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist on an ongoing full time basis, working Monday-Friday. Based within the Doveton Community Care Unit at Dandenong Adult Mental Health Service, this role offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality occupational therapy to inpatients in the Doveton CCU and Mental Health Program.
In this position, you will work closely with the Senior Occupational Therapist, Nurse Manager, and multidisciplinary team to deliver effective, evidence-based occupational therapy services. This will involve utilizing both group and individual programs, including specific assessments and interventions tailored to patient needs. You will also represent Occupational Therapy at the broader programmatic level.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provides a high standard of Evidence Based Occupational Therapy practice to the patients of Doveton Continuing Care Unit.
- Coordinate and manage the Volunteer program and Volunteers at Dandenong Mental Health.
- Provision of specific occupational therapy assessments and therapeutic interventions including sensory, motor and occupational performance tailored to the consumer’s individual needs and context.
- Taking lead role in organising/presenting/facilitation of the Treatment and Recovery Team meetings.
While the role is based at Doveton CCU, there may be occasions where the incumbent will be required to work across various clinical areas or campuses within Monash Health.
About Us:
Doveton CCU provides community residential psychosocial rehabilitation to consumers (18-64 years old) who have a serious mental illness and associated psychosocial impairments. Doveton CCU provides a home-like environment where consumers can continue their recovery from mental illness and develop their skills and capacity for independent living in order to facilitate a transition to the community.
Doveton CCU offers an initial residential assessment period that may be followed by a medium-term psychosocial rehabilitation program based on individual needs. Referral sources predominantly include Monash Health community mental health teams (CCTs and MSTTs), adult acute inpatient psychiatric units, and the secure extended care unit (SECU).

Mandatory requirements of the role:
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapist of Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or equivalent.
- Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) – Occupational Therapy, with no restrictions (cannot have a non-practising registration).
