Ripley Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility that will deliver 90 additional beds in West Moreton as part of Queensland Health’s Accelerated Infrastructure Delivery Program. The project will deliver a three-storey facility and multi-storey car park located on Botany Drive, South Ripley. It is located on the Ripley Health Campus and is co-located with the current Minor Injuries and Illness Centre and Specialist Outpatient Services.

About the role
The Palliative Care and Non-Acute medical ward is dedicated to providing comprehensive services including but not limited to:
Palliative Care
- Determining goals and ceiling of care with patients and their significant others
- Determining preferred place of care and preferred place of death to ensure care is received and directed to the right setting
- Symptom management
- End of life care
- Discharge planning, including prescription of equipment to facilitate care at home
- Linking patient families with other services to facilitate care at home and/or respite
- Support patients and families cultural, psychological, emotional, social, and spiritual needs
- Counselling and grief support
Non-Acute Medical
- Discharge planning
- Support service application
The ward is operational 24 hrs day 7 days week and staffed by a multidisciplinary team. The facility is equipped with internal and outdoor therapy areas with an on demand food service model to compliment therapy programs.
Operational Readiness & Commissioning Stage
Operational Readiness and Commissioning is the process of preparing the new facility to be ready to operate and deliver ongoing, sustainable, safe, and quality healthcare. It involves three key areas – Service Operational Readiness, Facility Operational Readiness, and Relocation Occupancy Readiness. The Operational Readiness and Commissioning period provides a unique and exciting opportunity for the Nurse Unit Manager to lead transformation through the design and set up of the new services at Ripley.
Service Operational Readiness focuses on ensuring the existing service is ready to relocate and occupy the new building.
- Develop detailed models of care for your clinical service and a business performance framework.
- Develop and update policies, procedures and work instructions
- Finalise workforce plans
Facility Operational Readiness focuses on ensuring the new facility is safe, tested, and ready to be occupied.
- Provide clinical input to ensure furniture, fixtures and equipment is installed in appropriate locations and meets the required clinical need.
- Provide clinical input into digital systems testing.
Relocation Occupancy, Opening Readiness focuses on the relocation of goods, staff and patients and the opening of services.
- Recruit and onboard nursing staff.
- Ensure all staff are trained sufficiently and orientated.
- Determine which patients are moving and the order of march.
- Assess whether your clinical service is safe to operate and input into Go/No Go assessments and decision making.
