Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialistto join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.


We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Intensive Care! The primary purpose of the Staff Specialist in Intensive Care is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in the Intensive Care Unit, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Intensive Care Unit and Hospital as required.

Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Intensive Care Services (RPAHICS) provides levels of critical care to more than 4000 patients a year. RPAHICS provides tertiary and quaternary level Critical Care support to the Hospital, Sydney Local Health District and NSW across a number of specialty areas, in particular, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Liver Transplantation, Trauma, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Complex Abdominopelvic Surgery. A recent development is the vICU program, which is a virtual health care program involving remote ICU care.

The Staff Specialist in Intensive Care will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.

The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM) with recognised qualifications in Intensive Care Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
