About Us: Monash Children’s Hospital’s Early Parenting Centre
Monash Children’s Hospital’s Early Parenting Centre (EPC) in Casey, provides specialist support for Victorian families with children from birth to four years of age. The centre delivers flexible, targeted services that aim to enhance the parent-child relationship and supports parents with strategies to achieve their parenting goals in areas such as sleep and settling, child behaviour and parent and child health and wellbeing. The EPC provides the following core services to Victorian families:
- Residential services – 24-hour multi-day centre-based intensive early parenting programs
- Day-stay service – centre-based day programs provided at EPCs or at outreach locations
- Telehealth and web-based services as a stand-alone or complementary modality.
- Community visits in home for ongoing support
The centre at Casey comprises of 4 day stay beds along with 10 overnight beds and is supported by a wide multidisciplinary team striving for positive outcomes for Victorian families.
About the Role
Bring your passion for providing support to families and join us in the Early Parenting Centre in Casey. This role will see you working closely with our nursing and allied health team to support parents and providing them with the skills to reach their parenting goals in both residential and day stay services at our centre. You will be working with a culturally diverse population, in the Casey growth corridor, and will play an integral role in the service.
We have ongoing positions with both Full Time and Part Time hours available working across a 5- day rotational roster incorporating AM, PM and Night Shift.
What you Bring:
- Diploma or above level qualification in Early Childhood Development, Infant Mental Health or equivalent qualification in a Human Services Discipline.
and/or Enrolled Nurse Level 1, currently Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
- Experience in working with families in the Health/Welfare sector and in the early parenting period.
- Experience working in the community settling such as home based family services and/or long day child care
- An understanding of child development.
- Working with vulnerable and/or at risk children and families
- Working with children with additional needs and their families
- Current and satisfactory pre/ongoing employment screening, including but not limited to Working with Children Check (WWC)
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Current practising certificate is required for Mothercraft Nurses
Desirable criteria
- Background or experience in:
- An existing Early parenting centre or Mother baby Unit
- working with vulnerable and/or at risk children and families
- working with high needs children and families
Suitable applicants may be employed at the Welfare Worker Class 1 or 2 classification, depending on their experience.
- A Welfare Worker Class 1, is a welfare worker with some experience working in community settings supporting clients.
- A Welfare Worker Class 2, is a welfare worker with more experience working in community settings supporting clients, and who is able to supervise other welfare workers.
