About the Opportunity
A great opportunity is available to lead the speech pathology service at Liverpool Hospital in a job share arrangement. You will be leading and managing a large team of staff who work across both paediatric and adult caseloads.
The successful candidate would be joining a supportive Allied Health executive and Speech Pathology team with an emphasis on innovation, teaching, education and quality improvement.
What You'll be Doing
The Head of Department is responsible for the management of the Speech Pathology service, with a leadership role for the profession of Speech Pathologist within the department, including the management of professional standards and development of safety and quality. The position will also manage a clinical load commensurate with other duties.
Where You'll Be Working
As the Head of Department for Speech Pathology, you will play a key leadership role at Liverpool Hospital, collaborating:
· Locally, with fellow Allied Health Heads of Department and the Facility Director of Allied Health/General Manager, to enhance speech pathology services, standards, and quality within the hospital.
· District-wide, with the Discipline Director and other Speech Pathology Heads of Department across South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), ensuring excellence and consistency in service delivery.
Liverpool Hospital, established in 1813, is the major health service for South Western Sydney, providing comprehensive care to the Liverpool community and broader district. A principal referral and teaching hospital for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, it delivers a world-class health service across critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, brain injury rehabilitation, cancer care, mental health, paediatrics, and more.
The hospital is currently undergoing a $790 million redevelopment as part of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP), expanding facilities and capacity to meet the growing needs of the region.

- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and team performance
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in service management functions
- Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process
- Demonstrated high level communication skills (oral and written) including advocacy and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated experience implementing Evidence Based Practice (EBP) into service planning and evaluation.
