About the Role

The Pharmacy Investigative Drugs Unit (IDU) is a fast-paced production unit run by an energetic and friendly team of enthusiastic clinical pharmacists, and technicians who are passionate about patient care and drug research. The IDU provides extensive support in the management of exciting and innovative clinical trials in areas including haematology, oncology and cardiology and is critical to their success.

Pharmacy assistants and technicians are an essential part of the Pharmacy team in areas including the Main Dispensary, Cancer Care, Aseptic Production, Clinical Trials and Mental Health. Clinical Trials Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians provide technical support to the Pharmacy Department Investigative Drugs Unit through activities, including dispensing, compounding, and inventory management. Opportunities exist to undergo further formal education and training in health support services as well as learn and develop technical skills such as aseptic manufacturing.

Ideal Candidate
    • Recent relevant work experience in pharmacy.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
    • Demonstrated experience with pharmacy computer systems.
    • Demonstrated excellent customer service.
    • Completion or willingness to completea Certificate III or Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Pharmacy Support or relevant qualifications deemed by the Health Administration Corporation to be equivalent; competency in dispensing, non-sterile production and ward distribution; and ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations (Technician Grades only).
    • All candidates must have full working rights within Australia.
    • Must be able to work a Full Time Roster Monday - Friday 8.30am to 5pm.
    • Is able to cover a weekend roster if ever required.
