About the role:
The position is to provide locum cover for a period of 6 months July-Dec 2025 for one of the HIV/ID consultants in the Infectious Disease department at St Vincent’s Hospital. The department provides inpatient, consult and outpatient services for a broad range of Infectious Diseases conditions with a focus on complex cardiac, transplant infection, infection in people who inject drugs and blood borne virus management.
In particular the position provides outpatient services to a cohort of people living with HIV often with complex co-morbidities, including general medicine advice and management. A knowledge of antiretroviral medication and the ability to prescribe drugs for the treatment and prevention of HIV and for the treatment of hepatitis C and hepatitis B is essential.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

  • Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);

  • Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist’s State Award;

  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in HIV and Infectious Diseases with extensive understanding and experience in the management of complex infectious disorders;

  • Exceptional knowledge of the management and treatment of HIV, HCV and HBV

  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching at speciality registrar, junior medical officer and undergraduate levels;

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience;

  • Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment
