Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Townsville Hospital and Health Service, is the public healthcare provider for the government areas of Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers, Flinders, Richmond, Hinchinbrook and Palm Island; operating 21 facilities from primary care in regional locations to highly specialised care at the main hospital.

Townsville University Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in northern Australia, provides specialist referral services for people living from Mackay up to the Torres Strait and out to the Northern Territory border.

This position will support the Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program through the application of the principles of best practice, education, leadership, and portfolio management.

About the opportunity:

Position: Clinical Nurse (Clinical Integration)

Vacancy: Temporary Full-time or Temporary Part-time up to 21/12/2025 with possible extension up to 2 years

Duration / Hours: Hours negotiable

Location: Clinical Intergration / Clinical Practive Development Service / Townsville

  • Salary range: $54.44 to $58.30 p.h. part-time or  $4138.10 to $4431.10 per fortnight full-time (Nurse Grade 6(1))
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

Requirements:

Mandatory qualifications/ professional registration/ other requirements

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Nursing: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate. 
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.  Proof of this endorsement must 
  • Travel: Please note, from time-to-time this position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities located within the Rural Hospitals Service Group network to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities.  
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted. Optional - including CHC, Blue Card, NDIS, QCS or Aged Care screening.
  • Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD): This is a VPD risk role.
