About the Role

The Registered Midwife- Midwifery group Practice (MGP) coordinates and delivers high quality woman centred care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s standards of practice for midwives, the policies and procedures of NSW Health and Sydney Local Health District (SLHD).

The MGP midwife will work in a caseload model, in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour, conduct births and to provide care for the newborn and the infant in the postpartum period. The midwife will work with the authority, responsibility and accountability for the achievement of quality care and monitoring of outcomes for allocated women. The role includes supporting, facilitating, developing and maintaining standards of midwifery care and links within the hospital and community. The MGP midwife must demonstrate a broad range of midwifery skills and knowledge to provide care relevant to the woman’s needs. In addition to providing care for allocated women, you will provide support to other staff.

This MGP service will provide pregnancy care for women residing within the natural catchment of Concord hospital. Antenatal care will be provided at a purpose built clinic on the campus of Concord Hospital. labour and birth care will be provided by MGP midwives at either RPA or Canterbury maternity units. Postnatal and infant care will be provided by the MGP midwife for women and babies following return home from hospital after birth.

This position will be based at Concord Repatriation General Hospital; however, you will be required to work at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Canterbury Hospital.

Ideal Candidate

  • Registration with AHPRA
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional development, including evidence informed practice and the acquisition and retention of comprehensive Midwifery skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with midwifery and multidisciplinary team members, and apply professional and ethical boundaries.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
