Fixed term temporary full time opportunity to provide high quality head and neck surgery services at a tertiary level as well as to contribute to teaching and research in the field.

About the role

The Fellowship is based at the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital with a strong focus on Head and Neck Oncology.  The Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital has one of the busiest Multidisciplinary Team / Tumour Board meetings in Australia so there is an extremely high caseload. Patients present frequently with highly advanced disease so very extensive procedures are common. The Fellowship is in ablative surgery. The Fellowship includes regular surgical lists, attendance at MDT and attendance of Head and Neck subspecialty clinics. Our unit covers the full range of Head and Neck surgery and includes oral cavity, sinonasal, cutaneous and thyroid malignancy. The unit has several junior doctors and training doctors as well as medical students and the applicant is expected to be involved in teaching and training of junior staff in addition to their rostered duties. 

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Select appropriate investigations.
  • Assemble clinical information and the results of investigations.
  • Diagnose clinical conditions.
  • Plan overall clinical care through a comprehensive management plan.
  • Initiate and maintain continuous critical care.
  • Help patients share the responsibility of their management and care.
  • Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
