Provide skilled coordination of nursing care and leadership qualities demonstrating sound knowledge of contemporary nursing practice and theory and participating directly and indirectly in the delivery of clinical care to individuals/groups.
The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Alcohol and Other Drugs Service) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Provide direction to a specialist multidisciplinary team of alcohol and other drug and mental health professionals
- Monitor clinical nursing staff capabilities and act in the role of preceptor and mentor to beginning practitioners
- Provide consultation from the discipline specific perspective of nursing to the other staff in the unit
- Conduct formal and informal education for staff and provide professional education to consumers, non-government organisations and the community
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
- Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
- A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

- Base salary ranging from $132 562 - $143 924 per annum

A Clinical Nurse Consultant is a Registered Nurse who is accountable at an advanced practice level for the coordination of clinical practice delivered in AODS specialist service and who applies specialised nursing knowledge relevant to the area of professional practice.
