Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Provide leadership and direction to Nursing staff along with guiding elective surgery patients at Varsity Day Hospital, ensuring seamless care coordination and exceptional patient experiences.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Nurse (Pre-Admission)'s to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Coordinate patient flow and clinic operations effectively.
  • Lead and support nursing staff to deliver quality care.
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.
  • Manage communication with key departments for investigations.

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

  • Base salary ranging from $54.44 - $58.30 per hour

About Us

The Pre-Admission Unit generates appointments for Elective Surgery patients for theatre at the Gold Coast University Hospital. The Unit is located offsite at the Varsity Day Hospital. The Pre-Admission Unit is a service that supports and educates the patient through the elective surgery process prior to surgery. The aim of our service is to deliver safe, effective, sustainable, and efficient Pre-operative assessment to patients.  The unit's objective is to identify risk factors to reduce adverse outcomes, and cancellations for elective surgery procedures.

The Unit converges with various internal departments such as interventional Radiology, Pharmacy, Pathology, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics, Outpatients, Clinical measurements, Lung Functioning, Stomal Therapist, Clinical Care Co-Ordinator's, Day Surgery, and the Emergency department for transfers. The collective structure includes Medical, Nursing, Administration and Ancillary services along with operational staff. To work collectively this structure requires effective communication skills from all staff members.
