What you'll be doing

The advertised position seeks a Registered Nurse to provide and oversee patient care within a hospital setting, focusing on individuals referred to Drug Health.

This is a Drug Health Consult liaison position to cover Westmead, Auburn & Cumberland Hospitals. This position will be a part of rotating roster to cover morning, afternoon (until 8pm), Public Holidays and Weekends within the hospital district.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering evidence-based care and treatment.
  • Monitoring patient progress.
  • Promoting best practice service delivery.
  • Supporting inpatient care.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team.

Essential Criteria

  • Current Nursing Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Selection Criteria

  1. Current Authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and demonstrated ability to actively contribute to the development of clinical practice in the Drug & Alcohol speciality.
  2. At least three years’ experience working within the Drug & Alcohol field.
  3. Demonstrated professional knowledge, skills and experience in Drug & Alcohol, particularly caring for patient present in the hospital setting and ensure appropriate care been arranged.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the provision and development of clinical practice by utilisation of evidence-based treatments with a demonstrated understanding of current NSW health policies and National and State standards related to the Drug & Alcohol Program.
  5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, carers and a diverse range of health care providers including those in government, non-government and external agencies and services.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise information technology systems within a variety of Settings.
  7. Willing to work across the WSLHD Drug Health services as needed and willing to participate in the Consult Liaison after hours roster.
  8. Proven ability to work independently with initiative, as well as collaboratively and respectively within a multidisciplinary team.
