Note: This temporary position is up to 30/06/2025 as part of the Drug Health Consult Liaison service for Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals. The role involves a rotating roster covering morning, afternoon (until 8 pm), public holidays, and weekends.

What you'll be doing
As a Registered Nurse in Drug Health, you will deliver evidence-based care and treatment for patients in a hospital setting, ensuring optimal outcomes for substance-dependent clients.

  • Delivering timely care for inpatients requiring Drug & Alcohol support
  • Managing a primary caseload for discharged clients until transfer of care
  • Promoting education for staff, patients, carers, and families
  • Engaging in professional development and maintain current knowledge
  • Upholding NSW Health policies, ensuring safe and dignified care environments

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration: Current Authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current Authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and demonstrated ability to actively contribute to the development of clinical practice inthe Drug & Alcohol speciality.
  2. At least three years’ experience working within the Drug & Alcohol field.
  3. Demonstrated professional knowledge, skills and experience in Drug & Alcohol, particularly caring for patient present in the hospital setting and ensure appropriate care been arranged.
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the provision and development of clinical practice by utilisation of evidence-based treatments with a demonstrated understanding of current NSW health policies and National and State standards related to the Drug & Alcohol Program.
  5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, carers and a diverse range of health care providers including those in government, non-government and external agencies and services.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise information technology systems within a variety of Settings.
  7. Willing to work across the WSLHD Drug Health services as needed and willing to participate in the Consult Liaison afterhours roster.
  8. Proven ability to work independently with initiative, as well as collaboratively and respectively within a multidisciplinary team.
