About the Opportunity
Bowral Hospital is actively seeking an accomplished Director of Pharmacy who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our small, rural hospital.


The ideal candidate will have an extensive background as a registered pharmacist, with a proven track record in hospital pharmacy management. In this role, you will be responsible for providing advanced clinical pharmacy services in a fast-paced hospital environment while effectively directing and managing pharmacy services.


Your ability to strategise, plan, and operate within budgetary constraints and set timelines is crucial. Building and nurturing relationships with hospital staff, executives, and various stakeholders will be a key component of this role, as you motivate, mentor, and lead a dedicated team.


Your proficiency in offering expert medication and clinical advice, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, medication safety standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines, will be essential in maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

What You'll Be Doing
The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the operation and management of the Pharmacy at Bowral & District hospital


This position:
- provides leadership in pharmacy service provision to inpatients and outpatients of the hospital and associated Community Health Centres.
- supports the provision of quality use of medicines by ensuring that pharmacy service provision is in accordance with legislative requirements and professional practice standards..
- promotes and adheres to medication safety Principles including those documented in ACSQH National Standard 4 - Medication Safety and National Standard 3 - Antimicrobial Stewardship
- provides clinical support to the wards

    How to Apply
    To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

    1. Current unrestricted authority to practice as a Pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with
      recent clinical pharmacy experience in a public hospital with the demonstrated knowledge of the regulatory framework for Medication Handling in NSW Public Hospitals
    2. Demonstrated high level of competence and expertise in clinical pharmacy
    3. Demonstrated experience in team leadership and the management of pharmacists and support staff.
    4. Demonstrated proficiency in computing and use of iPharmacy and eMR applications with understanding of clinical information management systems and processes within a hospital setting
    5. Demonstrated experience of Quality Assurance (QA) activities and Formulary management. Particularly in relation to medication safety and antimicrobial stewardship.
    6. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with patients and other staff within a multidisciplinary team.
    7. Commitment to and demonstrated expertise in education and training and the ability to impart knowledge and skills to pharmacy staff, students and other hospital staff.
