An exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team at Brisbane Youth Service’s Fortitude Valley clinic!

 

Brisbane Youth Service are seeking full-time Registered Nurse to join our unique and expanding youth specific medical clinic located at the Fortitude Valley Hub.

 

The BYS medical clinic provides a youth-focused primary care medical service for vulnerable young people (aged 12-25 years), who often have complex health and social needs, including both diagnosed and unaddressed mental health issues, leading to difficulties navigating health care.

 

To provide a range of primary health and education services to young people and their children in a clinic setting; aiming to improve access to health care information and services; provide advocacy and service navigation support; follow-up and empower young people to self-manage their own health and independently access health services.

SELECTION CRITIREA

  1. High-level understanding of health issues affecting homeless and at-risk young people and their children; including specialist knowledge in emotional and mental health, pregnancy, sexual and reproductive health, HIV and Hepatitis C, oral health, and substance use.
  2. A demonstrated ability to implement crisis interventions and approaches aligned with BYS’ practice framework, including a commitment to harm reduction, health promotion and social justice principles
  3. Sound knowledge and understanding of Gillick Competence and ability to support young people make informed choices.
  4. Phlebotomy experience required and PAP smear experienced provider preferred.
