About us:
The Farmgate Program offers vital mental health and emotional support to farmers, their families, local businesses, and service providers affected by the challenges faced by regional and rural communities. Designed to meet the needs of individuals, couples, and families, the program provides both short-term conversations and information as well as ongoing formal counseling. It also aims to strengthen community bonds by participating in community events, forums, and agricultural field days.


About the role:
This role will see our successful candidate based at a Community Health Centre within the Tablelands region. Collaborating with a dedicated team of Farmgate staff across the local Health District, you will provide vital support to communities facing agricultural and rural challenges. This role will encompass offering support, sharing valuable information, and making appropriate referrals through active networking, community engagement, and promoting wellness

By encouraging preparedness and resilience, you'll make a meaningful impact. Working alongside experienced Disaster Recovery Clinicians and Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) workers, you'll be part of a dynamic team committed to strengthening community wellbeing. You will receive support and encouragement to pursue a Certificate IV in Peer Work, enhancing your professional skills and growth.


About you:

  • You will have a strong dedication to regional and rural communities and the adversities they face working on the land including natural disasters such as droughts, economic pressures, infrastructure limitations, social isolation and changes in local industries.
  • You have knowledge of and commitment to the mental well-being of the agricultural community and experience in helping others to navigate prolonged stress.
  • You possess high-level interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team will be essential to your success in this role.

Additional information:

  • This position is up to full time; however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.
  • Covers large geographical distances to respond to identified need and establishing connection and credibility within rural and remote communities. This may necessitate extended work day or overnight accommodation.
  • An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
  • To be eligible for permanent employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport.
