General Provisional Fellowship in Anaesthesia

As a general provisional fellow in Anaesthesia at Westmead you will have the opportunity to extend your clinical skills and knowledge through exposure to a large range of complex surgical procedures and patients with challenging medical conditions. Westmead has a very broad mix of clinical specialties including one of the largest trauma units and busiest obstetric units in NSW. You will also be able to select an area of subspecialty interest for more detailed study and training.

CONTRACT DURATION
Contract duration will be 6 months full time equivalent. The provisional fellow that is successful for this specific job should recognise they are expected to apply at the next recruitment period for 2025 clinical year.

Selection Criteria:

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
  2. Completed four years of accredited anaesthetic training with ANZCA
  3. Successfully completed the final part ANZCA examination.
  4. Able to work in Anaesthesia under supervision and to work weekends and after-hours in the specialty area and work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilizing excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
  5. Adept ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services.
  6. Adept verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences
  7. Must be able to provide excellent references from current consultant supervisors including the Head of Department.
  8. Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of anaesthesia and a demonstrated interest in clinical audit or research.
