About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Occupational Therapy Department, mobile rehab team.

The role is responsible for the provision of Acute Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation services within St Vincent’s public hospital. Primary duties include assessment, treatment, home assessment, equipment prescription, discharge planning, and education/monitoring to patients requiring rehabilitation.

The position may require supervision of junior staff and students at various times, and is required to participate in Occupational Therapy team activities, quality improvement and research.

Assistance to other clinical areas at St Vincent’s Hospital may be required depending on team capacity with this most likely occurring in the rehabilitation setting, however it is not limited to this. Weekend work is a consideration as determined by departmental need and workflow demands.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Occupational Therapist who possess a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are Flexible and adaptable with a skill set that lends itself to acute and rehab patients.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy and Current Australian Occupational Therapy Registration (AHPRA).

  • Extensive post-graduate experience in acute and sub-acute hospital settings with a range of complex acute care presentations and rehabilitation approaches in the acute settings.

  • Experience in clinical management with the ability to apply clinical reasoning skills and independent professional judgment on routine and complex matters.

  • Demonstrated supervision/leadership experience with staff and/or students, and well developed communication skills.

  • Experience with quality projects/research.

  • Advanced written, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver’s License
