This is a temporary part time 32 hours per week relief position until 27 April 2025 with the possibility of extension.



What you'll be doing
To provide high quality comprehensive speech pathology services to the patients, clients, and carers of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD), in order to promote optimal health outcomes.

The senior speech pathologist is also responsible for clinically supervising and supporting staff as directed by Unit Heads and Clinical Leaders, and assisting with quality and service improvements.
This position will be required to work weekends and public holidays.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary degree in speech pathology (or equivalent) with eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  2. Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication, and strong computer literacy skills.
  3. Extensive experience independently managing adult inpatients in the Acute clinical setting.
  4. Demonstrated high-level problem solving, time management, and prioritisation skills.
  5. Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students.
  6. Demonstrated independence in performing Modified Barium Swallows (MBS/VFSS).
  7. Demonstrated experience leading quality improvement initiatives.
  8. Current unrestricted drivers licence (P2 minimum) and willingness to travel for work purposes.
