Occupational Therapist

Perform a range of clinical support activities and ‘on the job’ skills development while engaged in formal full-time/part-time tertiary studies necessary to acquire the relevant entry level qualification (mandatory) for employment as a Health Practitioner in Queensland.

About the role

  • The Health Practitioner – Occupational Therapy Trainee performs a range of clinical support activities and ‘on the job' skills development while engaged in formal full-time/part-time tertiary studies necessary to acquire the relevant entry level qualification (mandatory) for employment as a Health Practitioner in Queensland.
  • With relevant supervision, the Health Practitioner – Occupational Therapy Trainee delivers clinical services commensurate with experience and within the agreed scope of the role as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, to stakeholders/customers of Queensland Health. These services are delivered in accordance with the goals, policies, and requirements of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH), Metro North Health (MNH).

 Knowledge, skills, and expertise

 Clinical Practice

  • Ability to provide a defined range of patient interventions as delegated by the supervising Occupational Therapist in accordance with ethical standards using evidence-based practice.

Communication

  • Ability to apply effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills when communicating with clients/carers and other service providers to facilitate effective service provision.
  • Ability to successfully contribute as a multidisciplinary team member within a complex health care environment.

 Leadership and workload management

  • Skills in self-organisation and initiative to enable the timely completion of a variety of tasks allowing efficient service function.
  • Ability to participate in quality or service improvement activities within the work unit.
