The Physiotherapy Department at Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced and client focused Physiotherapist - Senior for a Paediatric role. The is a temporary full-time, commencing 08/07/2024 - 16/08/2024.

The Physiotherapist - Senior (Paediatrics) delivers high level physiotherapy clinical services and clinical leadership primarily within paediatric services at the Townsville University Hospital.

 The opportunity  

  • Deliver high level physiotherapy clinical services and clinical leadership primarily within paediatric services at the Townsville University Hospital.  The position is integral to maintaining standards of physiotherapy practice and contributing to the development of paediatric physiotherapy services.  The position also acts as a resource person in paediatric physiotherapy for staff, service managers and health care consumers of Townsville Hospital and Health Service.
  • The position contributes to a 7-day, extended-hours physiotherapy (Emergency Department) and on-call service.

Role requirement   

  • Mandatory requirements are possession of a qualification in physiotherapy from a recognised tertiary institution and current registration, or eligibility for current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Clinical Expertise:
    Demonstrated high level of knowledge, expertise and skill in physiotherapy relevant to paediatric services.
  • Communication:
    Demonstrated ability to provide general high level clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors regarding paediatric physiotherapy and service improvement opportunities.
  • Clinical Ability:
    Demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgement in providing physiotherapy clinical services of a complex nature with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
  • Leadership:
    Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and evaluate local service improvement initiatives and provide clinical supervision to less experienced physiotherapists.
