Where you will be working:

Critical Care Medicine is a 14 bed combined Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit, where critically ill medical and surgical patients are cared for by a specialist multidisciplinary team. Nursing staff are supported by a Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultant and a Clinical Nurse Educator.

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services consistent with SESLHD and The Sutherland Hospital & Community Health Services policies, procedures and standards.

Our Hospital and Community:

Established in 1958, The Sutherland Hospital campus offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and community services to around 226,000 residents of the Sutherland Shire, colloquially known as ‘The Shire’. Part of theSouth Eastern Sydney Local Health District(SESLHD) and located in Caringbah, the hospital campus is close to some of Sydney’s great beaches, restaurants, bars and cafes at Cronulla and is close to the beautiful Royal National Park. At Miranda, just a short walk away from the hospital, there is a Westfield Shopping Centre and cinema complex.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  2. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  3. Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  5. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  6. Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
  7. Demonstrated recent post registration experience in an acute care setting.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur ifno suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.
