About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team leading our approach to the provision of quality care to clients of the Social Work Department. The role of Deputy Social Work Manager and Professional Educator is a unique opportunity to engage strongly in the operational management and leadership of this highly regarded service at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney. The role will with the SW Manager lead the SW professional and student education programs that are well established.

About you:
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Deputy Socail Work Manager and Professional Educator who possesses a passion for person centred care. We welcome applications from people who are suitably qualified with a broad range of SW clinical experience in health as well as expertise and relevant post graduate qualifications to lead SW professional education in consultation with the SW Manager. You are both highly motivated and dedicated to ethical person centred clinical practice as well as a role model for the profession of SW. You possess exemplary communication skills and work in a collaborative and collegial manner in diverse settings with all members of the Health team. This role will support the provision of a comprehensive social work service that operates seven days a week and includes the after hours on call SW service.

Selection Criteria:
1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
2. Qualifications in Social Work from an accredited course providing eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers with extensive clinical skills and experience in social work in tertiary health care.

3. Demonstrated skills and experience in leadership and management including supervision of senior staff and other health professionals with the ability to provide high level advice, consultation and education to enhance excellence in social work service delivery.

4. Advanced knowledge of social work theory and practice with demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and professional development in Social Work. Post graduate qualifications in Social Work and / or Adult education.

5. Demonstrated experience and skills in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of education programs, research projects and quality improvement initiatives for social workers and health professionals.

6. Experience in planning, promoting, co-ordinating and evaluating social work field education including liaison with Universities and utilisation of ClinConnect

7. Ability to lead and contribute to clinical planning, research projects and continuous quality improvement activities within social work services.

8. Highly developed oral, computer and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in presentations, project management, report writing, policy and procedures, negotiation and effective time management skills with a commitment to clinical team building.
