Occupational Therapist


We are seeking passionate, committed and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who has the confidence and ability to make autonomous decisions and work collectively within the Multidisciplinary team. This is a fantastic temporary opportunity to work for a reputable service and great chance for career progression.

Provision of occupational therapy services to older people with mental health problems and/or dementia, primarily inpatients under the care of the Older Persons Mental Health Service, and community consumers.

Older Persons mental health service, Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service, located on the Prince of Wales Hospital campus, Randwick.

What you'll be doing

Provision of occupational therapy services to older people with mental health problems and/or dementia, primarily inpatients under the care of the Aged Care Psychiatry Service, and patients recently discharged to the community.


Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award and AHPRA
  2. Demonstrated core competency skills in functional, living skills and falls risk assessments and interventions in older people with cognitive and/or mental health problems
  3. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively engage with patients to enhance service delivery
  4. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters, commensurate with years of experience
  5. Computer skills and the capacity to use health information systems
  6. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice and a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning
  7. Drivers Licence
