What you will be doing:

The role of the occupational therapist is to deliver recovery-oriented occupational therapy services to consumers and their families as part of an integrated adult (18-65 years) community mental health service.
The occupational therapist will:
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment, recovery focused and evidence based individual and group interventions to promote occupational participation.
- Provide care coordination or to contribute in a variety of other ways to the overall functioning of the mental health service as required.
- Positively and proactively contribute to strengthening partnerships between the mental health service and other service partners both internal and external to the district.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form - IM011 form).

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.


Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Demonstrated capabilities for recovery-oriented mental health care and a commitment to the development of recovery-oriented approaches to occupational therapy in mental health.
  3. Demonstrated ability to utilise occupational therapy assessments and interventions to support consumers’ recovery utilising independent professional judgement and seeking supervision in line with level of experience, knowledge and skills.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, engage in open communication, contribute to a positive team environment and actively contribute to the learning and development of others.
  5. Demonstrated high level written documentation, computer competency and oral communication skills.
  6. Able to participate as a member of the team in quality improvement activities, development of policies and procedures and clinical research.
  7. Willingness to provide supervision and support to students on placement in line with level of experience.
  8. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purposes.
