Our Maternity Unit

This is an exciting opportunity for a Student Midwives to join our progressive Team. The Maternity Unit is located at our Wodonga Campus, located within one of Victoria’s largest Regional Maternity units facilitating up to 1700 births annually.

Details of the Student Midwife Program include:

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) based at Wodonga Hospital has multiple positions available for Registered Nurses who have a keen interest in completing their Graduate Diploma in Midwifery.

  • 10 - 12 month program, for students at 0.6 EFT (3 days per week - paid) and 0.2 EFT (1 day per week - unpaid) each.
  • Provided externally through Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga Campus July 2024
  • Commonwealth Supported Places are available.
  • Students are employed part time (3 days per week) whilst studying.
  • Post Graduate Study Leave to attend mandatory residential school.
  • Dedicated Midwifery Student Facilitator, Clinical Support nurse.
  • Supernumerary time at 0.2 EFT (1 day per week - unpaid) is available to enable the student to fulfil the clinical requirements.

About you:

We are seeking highly motivated Student Midwives who have a desire to work predominantly in our Maternity Unit and across all maternity unit streams including Antenatal, Postnatal, Birth Suite, Women’s Surgical Unit and Special Care Nursery.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for carrying out and attending to the responsibilities and duties outlined in the position description for the Registered Nurse/Midwife. This would suit a registered nurse with demonstrated acute experience and sound clinical skills who would like to further develop their career in Midwifery.
