Canberra Heart Clinic

Description

Canberra is the capital of Australia and is a planned city, with national monuments, museums and galleries built around a large artificial lake. Also know as the bush capital Canberra has a population of over 472,000 people and it is Australia's largest inland city and the eighth-largest city overall. Being a planned city ensures that it is easy to travel around this beautiful city which enables people to easily juggle work and family commitments. Canberra is a modern city and enjoys four distinct seasons. It has wonderful restaurants, great schools and is the home of the Australian National University. Canberra is welcoming and multicultural, is progressive and diverse and well connected to all capital cities of Australia. Canberra is an affluent city and this affords any cardiologists working here a very high standard of living.

We are looking for an enthusiastic cardiologist to join our busy and organised private cardiology practice. We are specifically interested in a general cardiologist, imaging cardiologist or a cardiologist with heart failure and pulmonary hypertension or electrophysiological expertise.

The Canberra Heart Clinic was established in 2010 and provides privatised outpatient cardiology services to Canberra and the surrounding regions in a modern yet caring environment. Canberra Heart Clinic offers excellent staff facilities which are not matched by any other specialist medical centre in the region.  It has 2 e95 echo machines with 4D capability, an e90 echo machine and a Vivid iq portable echo machine. All our cardiac ultrasound machines are capable of strain analysis. The Canberra Heart Clinic provides a full Holter monitor service with 20 Holter monitors that can record up to 7 days and also provides ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.  In addition to full consultative services including cardiac device checks it provides a full echo service including exercise stress echocardiography.  The Canberra Heart Clinic utilizes highly advanced technological equipment and this assists in the efficient running of this health service. Reporting of investigations and other administrative tasks can be done from anywhere in the world. The staff are friendly and support each other in this busy yet stimulating work place environment.

The Canberra Heart Clinic currently has an interventional cardiologist, imaging cardiologist and paediatric cardiologist.

We have 2 specialist cardiology practices in the north and south of Canberra. Our Deakin practice is located in the southern part of Canberra and our newly established Gungahlin practice is situated in the northern part of Canberra. Our principal cardiologists work at both locations. Gungahlin is deemed an area of need. Our newly established Gungahlin practice therefore would suit a cardiologist that needs to work in an area of need. Cardiologists that join of service would also conduct satellite clinics in regional centres that drain to Canberra. All regional centres surrounding Canberra are classified as areas of need. Canberra with its drainage areas serves a population of close to 850,000. Private hospital attachments can be organised at National Capital Private Hospital, Calvary John James Hospital and Calvary Private Hospital.

Overseas cardiologists that have their training recognised by the Australian Medical Council and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians may be considered if work under level 4 supervision has been approved and completed in an Australian public hospital. It should be emphasized that such applicants will need to arrange and then undertake work under level 4 supervision for period of 6-12 months in a public hospital in Australia prior to applying for this position. Following satisfactory completion of this work under level 4 supervision the Canberra Heart Clinic once approval of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians has been obtained can then complete level 4 supervision. The Royal Australasian College of Physicians generally allows up to 50% of work under level 4 supervision to be performed in a privatized setting.
