Purpose of Position
This position is responsible and accountable to the General Manager through line
management of Senior Nurse Manager, Nurse Manager and Nurse Unit Manager
Maternity Services, to provide professional, competent and effective quality care
using the prinicpals of best practice including primary care within a cost effective and
efficient environment. Services include obstetrics, accident and emergency, general
medical, paediatrics and surgical patients.
The Midwife is responsible for prenatal, intrapartum and postnatal maternity care
provision within the hospital and outreaching into the community. The Midwife may
also be responsible for providing parenting classes.
Function as a professional representative of the nursing service and organisation.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the National Competency Standards
for Registered Midwives.
Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work, and commitment to
professional development and best practice.
Current NSW Drivers Licence.
Registered Nurse/ Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
Demonstrated understanding of the Families First/Integrated Perinatal Care,
psychological assessment, and committment to same.
Demonstrated experience and clinical skills in general nursing and midwifery
Demonstrated knowledge of legislative and policy requirements that govern
Registered Nurse practice.
