Purpose of Position

This senior position has two key components: Firstly, to provide expert advice to the Chief Dental Officer on strategic policy and priority projects, especially in the area of child and adolescent oral health and secondly, to lead the development of public policy and statewide programs that ensure key deliverables related to children and adolescents of the NSW Oral Health Implementation Plan 2011-2020 are achieved within designated timeframes. Strong negotiation and planning skills are required to influence the overall direction taken by public oral health services in NSW. The role would suit a person with substantial experience as a senior clinician who has also contributed to corporate level oral health strategy development and implementation. Candidates with advanced managerial capability in the implementation of public oral health projects who also understand the relationship between local, state and federal oral health frameworks will enjoy working in this challenging and rewarding position. The position will be located at the Centre for Oral Health Strategy, NSW currently on the Westmead Hospital Campus and will have a strong relationship with colleagues within the Population Health Division, NSW Department of Health, Local Health Networks and Clinical Support Clusters delivering the ECOH program and other child and adolescent oral health services state-wide, and non-government organisations.

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria:
1. Registered with the Dental Board of Australia as a dentist, dental therapist or oral health therapist.
2. Demonstrated expert knowledge and experience in key areas of child oral health, clinical standards and practices, health promotion and data management.
3. Strong writ


Ability to travel to metropolitan and regional areas of NSW as well as Interstate is a requirement of this position.
