Purpose of Position
Paediatric Level 1/2 clinician is responsible for the assessment, treatment and management of clients with communication disorders, and their families, providing a range of intervention services.
The Level 1/2 clinician is responsible and accountable for providing a professional level of service within the Speech Pathology department of the Central Hospital network (CHN). The Level 1/2 clinician is a competent clinical practitioner who is able to work under minimal direct professional supervision.
The Level 1/2 clinician is able to exercise independent professional judgement on routine matters. The Level 1/2 clinician may require direct professional supervision from more senior staff members when performing novel, complex, or critical tasks.
A Level 2 Clinician is responsible for the supervision of Level 1 therapists within the clinical area, and university students of all levels.
The Level 1/2 Clinician will assist in the development of policies, procedures, standards and practices. They will be expected to participate in quality improvement activities and may be required to participate in clinical research activities.
The Level 1/2 clinician will be expected to participate in workplace education programmes as required.
·Recognised Degree or Diploma in Speech Pathology & eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
·Well developed time management skills
·Excellent written and verbal communication, including information technology skills
·Knowledge of quality improvement and service evaluation processes
·Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
·Ability to participate in staff and/or student supervision.
Experience managing paediatric communication difficulties
