About your opportunity:

Fixed term temporary full-time, 6 months with the possiibility of extension, not exceeding 12 months, Location: Townsville

This position is a multi-disciplinary position. Applications are being sought from Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Social Workers.

Community Forensic Outreach Service (CFOS) is a team within the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) which provides clinical and risk assessment and recommendations for the management of mental health consumers who have committed, are alleged to have committed or are at risk of committing an offence.  CFOS provides a consultation and liaison role to mental health treating teams within Townsville, North West Queensland and Mackay Hospital and Health Services. 

As a member of the multidisciplinary Community Forensic Mental Health team, the Clinical Nurse in CFOS provides input into the areas of forensic and mental health assessment, risk assessment, intervention, training and education, supervision and research.

Generous remuneration package value up to $11,060 p.m. comprising:

  • Salary range of $2941.70 to $4459.00 p.f. (HP3/Nurse Grade 6, Band 1)

Requirements:

  • Proof of qualification (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work) and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Highly Desirable: 
    • Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
    • Possession of or working towards a relevant post-registration and/or tertiary qualifications in mental health nursing.
    • Credentialed status (or willingness to undertake and complete the requirements) with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses.
    • Eligibility for appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) under the Mental Health Act 2016
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • Travel: Please note, from time-to-time this position will be required to travel to, and work at, other facilities located within the Rural Hospitals Service Group network to participate in meetings for planning, quality, performance, training and education, or clinical activities.  This may involve day and/or overnight stays.  Travel on small planes or ferry may be required. The successful applicant/s will need to be able to commit to this requirement.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • All employees of the Mental Health Service Group may be required to work in other areas of the service.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
