Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

Te Toka Tumai- Auckland Gynaecological Oncology is the largest of the 3 Gynaecological Oncology Cancer Centres in New Zealand, with of catchment population of 2.8 million, providing tertiary gynaecological oncology services to Health New Zealand- Te Whatu Ora ( Auckland, Counties Manukau, Waitemata, Northland, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti and Waikato Regions).

We host the supraregional MDM which receives over 1400 (1100 new) referrals per year.

We are currently looking for a full time (1.0 FTE) Gynaecological Oncologist, to join the existing team of 4 fulltime SMOs in a busy department, currently providing surgical clinical care for over 500 new cancers annually.

The post will be based at Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital and Green Lane sites.

Some key duties for this role include:-

· To collaborate and work to maintain equitable Gynaecological Oncology services in line with strategic requirements.

· To provide, with the other Consultants in the specialty, routine and emergency Gynaecological Oncology services to the region, operating a system of cover for annual, study and professional leave.

· To provide a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties

· To develop a special interest to complement those of the existing Consultants in the specialty and in accordance with the priorities of the DHB.

· To develop appropriate services and techniques required to fulfil clinical needs, within available resources.

· To provide a preinvasive service

· To provide collegial support within the department and manage the workload collectively as a team

· To take responsibility for the professional supervision and appraisal of junior medical staff, in conjunction with colleagues.

· Participation in the Gynae Oncology roster

Te Toka Tumai welcomes applications from those candidates who have completed or due to complete CGO from RANZCOG, or overseas equivalent, however the CGO is a mandatory requirement to be offered a permanent position.

The ideal person will:-

· Be a team player

· Be motivated and willing to contribute to a busy cancer centre

· Have excellent communication skills

· Current New Zealand Vocational Medical Council registration or be eligible to obtain Vocational NZMC Registration

· CGO accreditation or equivalent sub specialty qualification in Gynaecological Oncology

· FRANZCOG or equivalent specialist qualification

· CQUIP accreditation or equivalent
