What you'll be doing


Provide a high quality specialist physiotherapy service to client groups and circumstances of an undifferentiated and/or complex nature that access the Emergency Department, requiring advanced reasoning and practice skills and operate autonomously with minimum direct clinical supervision. This includes the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the indication for and interpretation of medical imaging for musculoskeletal disorders.

Plan, coordinate and implement high levels of clinical expertise and specialised knowledge in their specialty to patients and carers of ISLHD in accordance with NSW Health, ISLHD and physiotherapy policies and procedures and standards.

Provide clinical supervision and support of Level 1 and 2 health professionals, technical and support staff, students and other staff as appropriate.

Participate and assist with the planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting on clinical services.

Provide a consultative role within their area of expertise. May conduct clinical research. Participate in the provision of clinical in-service education programmes to staff and students.

May have an operational/supervisory role under the direction of the ISLHD Physiotherapy Head of Discipline or delegate and may be required to manage specific tasks or projects.

May be required to work across other sites within the District.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current Physiotherapy Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Demonstrated extensive post graduate clinical experience in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic specialties, including the interpretation of peripheral x-rays.
  3. Demonstrated commitment and evidence of the implementation of ISLHD CORE values.
  4. Demonstrated high levels of oral and written communication skills including the proficient use of health based technology.
  5. Knowledge and proven ability to undertake quality improvement and service evaluation processes.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, as an independent practitioner assessing and managing undifferentiated patient groups, and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Demonstrated ability to provide senior level of supervision to staff and/or students.
  8. Current NSW drivers licence or equivalent.
