The Speech Pathology team are part of the Children, Young People and Families Service. This temporary position is located in Taree Community Health with flexibility to work across the Lower Mid North Coast. You will work alongside other Speech Pathologists and Allied Health clinicians, meeting the speech pathology needs of children, young people and their families in our area.

About the role:
This position will see you providing safe, compassionate, person-centred care, evidence-based assessment/interventions, health promotion and education. You will provide services to infants, children and young people aged 0-18years with communication and feeding difficulties. Most of your appointments will be at the local community health centre, with occasional visits to preschools/schools. Our Speech Pathologists also enjoy working with our Child and Family Health Nurses to provide education to our new parents and provide education to wider stakeholders. They are part of our multidisciplinary Bright Start Clinic, working to identify developmental delays in the first two years of life. The Speech Pathology team have clinicians based at Taree, Forster, and Gloucester.

You will be part of a supportive Paediatric Speech Pathology team and wider paediatric allied health team, within the Children, Young People and Families Service. You will receive orientation and training while in the role. We encourage and support both internal and external support, with regular monthly clinical supervision and the completion of mandatory education requirements.

About you:
You will ideally have experience working with children and young people, as a Speech Pathologist. Skills in teamwork are essential as is the ability to adapt your communication style to target your audience. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for a busy case load of clients, who often experience psychosocial complexities. Our area's high indigenous population requires candidates to have a good understanding of Closing The Gap and to be working towards cultural competence.

You must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in speech pathology which provides eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
