Role details

The Educators Clinical Unit is seeking applications for a Nurse Educator (Hinterland) to join their team on a temporary basis at our Western Facilities (Clermont Multi-Purpose Health Service, Dysart and Moranbah Hospital).

Your opportunity

The Nurse Educator is an employee who is a registered nurse who:

  • Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and
  • Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set. 

Classification may include but is not limited to:

  • Responsibility for explicit professional portfolio content and context expertise.
  • Expertise in the provision of direct care and/or support of systems and/or education and/or professional leadership.
  • Consultation and provision of professional advice.
  • Responsibility for a cohort of staff reporting to the position and/or education and research advice inclusive of the Hinterland Rural Facilities of Dysart, Clermont and Moranbah.
  • Contemporary nurse education leadership in the provision of all mandatory training, requisite training for rural Nurses and Midwives, ongoing professional education and developing the clinical competencies of less experienced staff necessary to ensure professional standards are maintained and safe, effective, ethical and efficient clinical services are delivered.
  • Collaborative practice as part of the leadership team for the Rural Hinterland Facilities services across the whole HHS and external partners within the local community.
  • Well-developed communication skills: interpersonal, verbal, written and computer literacy including programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to participate in the Professional Performance & Development plan for staff in conjunction with the nursing leadership team.
  • accountable at an advanced practice level for the design and implementation of education programs, managing educational resources and providing nursing/midwifery expertise relating to staff development for nurses/midwives in the Rural facilities of Moranbah, Clermont, and Dysart.

About the Team

The Nurse Educator (Hinterland) is part of the Clinical Excellence Unit (CEU) for MHHS and reports professionally and organisationally to the Nursing Director CEU. The NE Hinterland will be required to engage and report operationally to the dedicated Director of Nursing (NG11) for the Hinterland and collaborate with each facility management for education and training that meets core and requisite needs.

The Nurse Educator (Hinterland) will provide direct and coordinated services across Moranbah, Clermont, and Dysart facilities. It is expected the breakdown of scheduled time will be a combination of service size, FTE/headcount and peak demands for training and education. The likely break down of hours would be reflected on average per week two days Moranbah, two days Clermont and one day Dysart. This will be flexible and negotiable in consultation with your operational and professional director based on service needs and demands. There will be travel required between facilities, and options for overnight accommodation on site at relevant facility should be negotiated if applicable.
