What you will be doing:

An exciting opportunity awaits for Registered Nurses to join our Primary Care and Community Health team on permanent full time or part time assignments.

The NBMLHD Sustaining NSW Families team is responsible for providing home based antenatal and post-natal support and intervention for families in the Penrith and Hawkesbury Local Government Areas who need extra help in their child’s first 2 years of life. The Registered Nurse will work collaboratively to provide safe, compassionate, person-centred health care in collaboration with patients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team.

Your role as Registered Nurse will
require you to demonstrate knowledge and application of the skills required of a registered nurse in contemporary nursing practice, including knowledge and understanding of appropriate equipment, legislation, policies and procedures. This includes maintaining patient comfort, privacy, dignity and safety at all times.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form - IM011 form.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.


Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed:

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA.
  2. Demonstrated extensive recent experience and clinical skill in provision of care to children aged 0-5 years and their families/carers as a registered nurse (including completion of a new graduate RN program or 12 months full time equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse
  3. Demonstrated evidence of working within a Multidisciplinary team to facilitate the care planning for vulnerable families with complex needs.
  4. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work and an ability to work effectively both within a team and autonomously.
  5. Demonstrated effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development, evidence-based practice and an awareness of changes within the health care environment.
  7. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to utilise information technology systems within a variety of applications (e.g., Cerner) and commitment to undertake training in electronic health record systems as required.
  8. Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia and willingness to use for work purposes.
