Where you'll be working
Cooma is the largest town in the Snowy Mountains, with bushwalking, mountain biking, horse-riding, fishing and white-water rafting all on the door-step of the ski-fields. The wilderness experiences are unforgettable, with Australia’s highest peak in Kosciuszko National Park. It’s just over 60 minutes’ drive to Canberra and 80 minutes to Merimbula the gateway of the beautiful Sapphire Coast.


What you'll be doing
The Clinical Midwife Specialist 2, using best practice evidence provides individualised, woman-centered specialist midwifery care at an advanced practice level in collaboration with individual/s and the multidisciplinary health care team.

To provide clinical leadership, support and supervision for less experienced clinicians to achieve woman focused quality care.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife with a minimum of three years' experience working in the clinical speciality. Post registration qualification, desirable Certificate IV work place training and assessment or working towards same.
  2. Demonstrated competencies in,and knowledge of the complexities and challenges involved in providing woman centered Midwifery care in the context of a multidisciplinary team.
  3. Demonstrate ability to exercise extended autonomy in clinical decision making capabilities and leadership in the development of midwifery practice advancement.
  4. Demonstrated effective communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means and sound interpersonal skills with the capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner.
  5. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace, evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based midwifery care.
  6. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality midwifery based care and support midwifery models of care that are culturally responsive and inclusive.
  7. Evidence of participation in own professional development, a commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills (ADD SPE with a willingness to apply and share professional expertise as a resource person and mentor others within the speciality.
  8. Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.



Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2023_022.All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.


All NSW Health Category A workers are required to have received at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. You will be required to provide a record of your COVID-19 vaccination status if successful.
