Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are implementing a new pharmacy service into Emergency Medicine at Te Toka Tumai to provide clinical pharmacy services across the Adult Emergency Department (AED). As an experienced clinical pharmacist you be responsible for developing and monitoring medicines optimisation processes that promote safe, effective and timely turnaround in the Emergency Department. As a professional who is passionate about putting patients at the centre of everything you do, you’ll be in your element here with us. In this role you will be an integral part of the Adult Emergency Department; you will provide support and guidance in all aspects of medicines use in the acute care setting.

You will be a stand out when it comes to juggling the pressures of a clinical workload and developing and working through implementation plans in collaboration with the Adult Emergency Department that reflect the service strategies and goals. You will have the capacity to focus your ability to maintain business as usual while driving programme and service development and improvement.

This full time permanent position will provide you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge and integrate yourself into all aspects of the pharmacy and medicines management service within emergency and acute care medicine. The hours of service will be negotiated to align with the priorities of the AED.

You will be an enthusiastic clinical pharmacist, committed to furthering yourself and your peers with the ability to role model the Te Toka Tumai Auckland values.

  • Qualified with a B.Pharm degree with NZ registration or applicable NZ recognised qualification from overseas, postgraduate clinical qualifications are desirable.
  • Registered, or be eligible for registration, with the Pharmacy Council of New Zealand and hold a current Annual Practising Certificate. Please see below if you are an overseas registered pharmacist.
  • 3 to 5 years’ hospital pharmacy experience, with recent acute services or emergency medicine experience and/or prescribing qualification highly desirable.

  • Pro-active and can-do approach with the ability to be flexible, work under pressure and work autonomously as well as in a team
  • Excellent communication and time management skills are essential, as well as the ability to develop close working relationships
