About the Role

  • This position provides corrective and preventive maintenance of domestic, commercial and institutional plumbing and sanitary fixtures and fittings, and hydraulic services plant and equipment, to ensure that all such equipment and systems are kept in optimum operational condition

  • The position is also responsible for carrying out the necessary works associated with new installation and extensions to plumbing and sanitary fixtures and fittings, and hydraulic services plant and equipment as required

  • This position is also required to review hydraulic drawings of proposed NBMLHD projects as required

  • This position is expected to participate in the provision of an afterhours on call emergency maintenance roster

  1. Current trade qualifications with a minimum 5 years’ experience in plumbing and gas fitting and hold a current NSW Licence
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of current WHS Act and relevant regulations as well as knowledge of current relevant Australian Standards
  3. Demonstrated experience and ability to perform plumbing work and associated physical/manual labouring tasks in a safe manner including but not limited to the following; Performing scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures including back flow prevention devices, thermostatic mixing valves, hot and warm water systems
  4. Demonstrated ability to be able to read plans, specifications and interpret drawings, estimate cost, time and materials of plumbing works
  5. Availability to be on an afterhours call roster and to attend works at the NBMLHD after hours when called upon
  6. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and must be able to take oral and written direction from the maintenance management and maintain a co-operative working relationship with management, other trades staff and hospital staff and maintain the Health code of conduct
  7. Valid current Class C NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel as directed
  8. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and computerised maintenance management systems
