Purpose of Position

The position includes the administration of methadone and buprenorphine in accordance with the NSW Poisons Act (1966) and providing case management to the clients of the SWAHS Opiate Treatment Service. To work collaboratively with relevant members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of nursing care within the unit. To ensure optimal outcomes for customers of the service through the promotion of best practice. To effectively manage resources relevant to the service. To maintain and promote a professional standard evidenced by ethical nursing practice, adherence to the policies and standards of the Nursing Service, Sydney West Area Health Service and the appropriate legislation and statutory regulations.

Selection Criteria

Current NSW Drivers Licence.

A good working knowledge of regulations as they apply to Schedule 8 Drugs.

High level of communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability and demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.

Non- judgmental and empathic approach to clients

Understanding of and skills in the delivery of evidence based drug and alcohol interventions

Current Registration as a Nurse on the AHPRA Register of Practitioners
