About the role:

Step into a rewarding role at Tamworth Hospital, one of the largest and most dynamic regional hospitals in the New England region. As part of our dedicated Social Work team, you’ll provide vital support to patients and families across Tamworth and surrounding communities, including Barraba, Manilla, and Walcha. You’ll also contribute to the Transitional Aged Care Program, helping patients transition smoothly from hospital to home.

As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll play a key role in delivering holistic care in both hospital and community settings. This is a varied and meaningful role ideal for a generalist clinician ready to take the next step, with our supportive team behind you every step of the way!

In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality social work services to patients and families.

  • Manage a diverse caseload including crisis trauma, domestic and family violence, child protection, and complex discharge planning.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to shared learning.

  • Commit to one weekend and one afternoon shift per month.

  • Access full training, structured orientation, and ongoing professional development.

About you:

You are a confident, experienced clinician who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You bring:

  • Proven experience in a hospital or acute care setting.

  • Expertise in managing complex and sensitive issues including trauma, domestic violence, and child protection.

  • A flexible, open-minded approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • A commitment to continuous learning and high standards of care.


Additional Information:
  • This position is full time; however, part time arrangements will be considered (minimum 24 hours per week).
  • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia. Employment of a temporary visa holder will only be offered in line with the conditions and expiry date of your visa.
  • An eligibility list will be created for future temporary full or part time vacancies.
