  1. Social Work degree which provides eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics.
  2. Extensive post graduate experience in working with children, young people (0-18 years) and families within the Child Protection context.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of Child Protection Legislation and policy and procedures, with a focus on Out of Home Care.
  4. Demonstrated advanced level of skills in complex psycho-social assessment and extensive specialist psycho-social knowledge of children in relation to: child protection, substance misuse, mental illness, domestic violence and the impact this may have on attachment and development.
  5. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain close working relationships with NSW Health Services, Department of Communities and Justice and Non-Government agencies, and multidisciplinary colleagues
  6. Demonstrated high level communication skills (written and verbal) and demonstrated computer skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage stressful situations; ability to work unsupervised and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature.
  8. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff and demonstrated capacity to provide clinical supervision.
  9. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
