Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join Awhi Mātua, a Community Mental Health Team that serves the central Auckland population of adults over 65 who are experiencing acute mental health challenges or behavioural difficulties associated with dementia. The team works with people from acute crisis presentation through to continuing care. We are based at Greenlane Clinical Centre which is right next to Cornwall Park, located in Epsom, Central Auckland.

We are seeking a clinical psychologist with an interest in working with older adults. This is a clinical position and you will work directly with Tangata Whaiora, providing psychological assessment and treatments. In addition, you will have the opportunity to provide specialised consultation for colleagues as well as develop specialized care or management plans as non-pharmacological interventions for Tangata Whaiora who are presenting with severe behavioural challenges.

You will collaborate in the design of care plans, advocate for Tangata Whaiora goals and positive risk taking. You will coordinate with the wider team to develop solutions which allow Tangata Whaiora to live well and build up natural supports that can be sustainable outside of specialist mental health and addiction services wherever possible.

This role includes a case management component, and you will be part of an Urgent Clinician roster.

As this is a community based role, a full and clean driver’s license is required.
