NBMLHD Community Mental Health offer a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.
Our Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) team is seeking to engage a Senior Social Worker to join their program. The service provides assessment and up to 2 years of intensive treatment for young people aged 12 - 24 years who present with first episode psychosis or who are identified as being at ultra-high risk of developing psychosis. The program provides consultation liaison services for young people admitted to Nepean and Blue Mountains Hospitals.
EPI clinicians provide evidence-based assessment and therapy through individual, family, and group interventions. Clinicians work within a multidisciplinary team and in partnership with other service providers.The Senior Social Worker will utilise advance judgement and reasoning skills to clearly identify problems and concerns and advocate and negotiate in order to achieve positive outcomes for consumers. You will use your skills and clinical expertise in providing support and supervision to Level 1/2 Social Workers as well as education and consultation for other health care professionals.

What you will bring to the role
- Degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of AASW
- Substantial postgraduate clinical experience and demonstrated specialist knowledge and skills in youth mental health, including knowledge and experience of the Australian Clinical Guidelines for Early Psychosis.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills for working with a systemic lens with families and networks.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership, staff supervision, and experience in the supervision of social work students.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and knowledge of and experience with quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, organisational skills and effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Current unrestricted NSW driver’s license and willingness to use same for work purposes.
