TheAnaesthesiaDepartment providesanaesthesiaservices for most of the divisions at Flinders Medical Centre.
About the role:
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role will provide nursing servicesin Anaesthetics/Post Anaesthetics Care Unit.
Duties for the role will include:
- Plan, prioritise and coordinate services with other disciplines or agencies in providing individual health care needs.
- Recognising, responding and appropriately escalating clinical deterioration, and provide complex care at the bedside of the perioperative patient.
- Recognise, respond and report other incidents within the department.
- Participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to patient/client safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting,
- Support nursing/midwifery practice and learning experiences for students undertaking clinical placements, orientation for new staff and preceptorship of graduates,
- Use foundation theoretical knowledge and evidenced based guidelines to achieve positive patient/client care outcomes,
- Review decisions, assessments and recommendations from less experienced Registered Nurses and students.
About you:
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate,
- Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
- Ability to be, creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure, demonstrate appropriate professional behaviours, open to feedback and initiate self reflection
- Commitment to delivering high quality and safe nursing care.
- Demonstrated competence in Anaesthetic and/or PACU nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards,
- Minimum 2 years’ demonstrated experience in Anaesthetic/PACU nursing.
