Te Toka Tumai | Starship Child Health is a dedicated paediatric healthcare service and major national teaching centre, providing whānau-centred care for tamariki/children and rangatahi/young people. Starship is part of Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland and provides a wide range of complex medical, surgical, cardiac and mental health services for children and young people throughout New Zealand and the South Pacific. Starship aims to lead the nation in providing world class equitable healthcare, paediatric training and research, in an environment where kaimahi/staff can flourish personally and professionally.
Mō te tūnga | About the role
Starship is seeking a collaborative Specialist to work in for our Paediatric and Congenital Service (PCCS). The Green Lane Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Service (PCCS) is a national service based at Starship Children's Health, Auckland. It is the sole provider of cardiology and cardiac surgical services for infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease for New Zealand and a number of Pacific Island nations. It also provides a foetal and adult congenital cardiology service.
The unit has a catchment population of five million and provides a full range of investigations and procedures with over 400 surgical cases per year. You would be working in a department with 10 other cardiologists 3 cardiac surgeons, 4 cardiology fellows in training and a well-established multi-disciplinary team.

To be successful in the role you will be
- Be qualified as a paediatric cardiologist
- Have a Vocational Registration with Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible to become vocationally registered
- Possess and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working in a collegial environment
- Demonstrate interest and potential to actively participate in departmental activities including teaching, audit and research
- Demonstrated Te Tiriti o Waitangi knowledge and application*
