Purpose of Position
Responsible for leadership and operational management of anaesthetic nursing services including nursing rosters, daily appropriate allocation of nursing resources, retention and training of nursing staff allocated to the department The Anaesthetic unit provides nursing care for 8 operating rooms on level 4; two operating rooms one level 2; one operating room in the Severe Burns Unit and one operating room in the Maternity Unit, Discharge lounge, and support for Radiological procedures . RNSH is a major teaching hospital in the Northern and central Cost Area Health providing surgery for Orthopaedics, Cardiac, Neruo, General, Maternity & Gynaecology, Oncology, Upper GIT, Colorectal, Plastic, Hand, ENT, Urology, Vascular, Urology and Ophthalmology & Paediatric surgery. In addition RNSH is a State wide service for Spinal and Sever Burns.
The Anaesthetic NUM 2 regular rostered shift will be 0700-1530 Monday to Friday however will accommodate one week roster of 1030-1900 Monday to Friday.
Registered Nurse with Nurses and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Relevant post graduate qualifications and management qualifications or working towards same
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications
Evidence of ongoing learning and professional development
Experience in initiating and maintaining quality activities
Previous experience in managing service delivery and budget allocations;
Knowledge of the major issues in nursing
Member of the NSW Operating Theatre Association
