Skilled Medical is seeking applications for the role of Primary Health Manager for the Royal Flying Doctor Service based in Broken Hill, NSW.

The RFDS is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world, providing extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to people over an area of 7.69 million square kilometres or almost 3 million square miles of rural and outback Australia.

The Role

This is a leadership role managing the RFDS Primary Health Care Service in Broken Hill and the South Eastern section.

The Primary Health Care Service provides a comprehensive range of services at a number of locations including rural towns, remote stations, mines, oil fields and national parks. They are delivered by multidisciplinary teams including General Practitioners, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Aboriginal Health Workers and Health Promotion and Community Development Officers.

Situated within the South Eastern Section of the RFDS, the Primary Healthcare Manager will play a fundamental role in managing the strategy, development, projects, programs and staff in the Primary Health Team. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on engaging with the local community stakeholders and identifying opportunities to expand the service to additional locations through service contracts.


The Location

You will live in the Silver City of Broken Hill, famed for its hospitality, culture and dramatic outback landscapes. The city has excellent educational, sporting and cultural facilities and daily commercial air links to Adelaide, Sydney and other centres.


The Person

As well as possessing a clinical nursing background, qualifications and registration in nursing in Australia or overseas, applicants should have strong management and organisational skills, be good team workers, great communicators and committed to the values and ethos of the RFDS.

Registration with the AHPRA/Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia will be essential and the RFDS will provide work visa sponsorship if required.
